The first step to service the Air Bag Control Module as well as remove the Center Air Bag Sensor Assembly from the Hatchback is to disconnect the negative battery cable. Continue with operations by taking out both the shift lever knob sub-assembly and the shifting hole cover sub-assembly which belong to the Manual Transaxle system. Service professionals should start by removing the rear cover from the console box followed by pulling out the console box carpet before taking out the rear console box assembly. Proceed with the Center Air Bag Sensor Assembly removal once all components have been detached while maintaining constant disconnected status of the negative battery terminal to avoid Air Bag deployment incidents. Detaching the sensor requires first using the lever to unplug the connector holder without disconnecting the negative battery terminal and then using a 10mm socket to take out the 3 nuts which secure the Air Bag sensor before finally removal.
