Finally, use Special Service Tool: 09308-10010 to remove the oil seal. Use Special Service Tool 09556-22010 to eliminate the front bearing after which extract the two washers and the bearing spacer. Place the front bearing as you simultaneously apply Special Service Tool: 09950-30012 (09951-03010, 09953-03010, 09954-03010, 09955-03030, 09956-03050) that goes with the companion flange to install the bearing before removing the flange. The installation of the new oil seal requires MP grease on its lip as Special Service Tools 09316-12010 and 09649-17010 along with a plastic hammer to achieve proper fitment to the differential carrier end while keeping the tools secured together with vinyl tape. When installing the companion flange to the drive pinion position the threads of a new nut with hypoid gear oil. The 2WD installation requires using three stud bolts to extend the head 40 mm (1.57 inch) before setting Special Service Tool: 09213-58013 and applying three nuts to the companion flange. Use tool Special Service Tool: 09330-00021 to secure the companion flange while torquing the nut to 147 Nm (1,500 kgf-cm, 109 ft. lbs.) before removing the nuts and stud bolts and the tool. The technician must utilize Special Service Tool: 09330-00021 to secure the companion flange while torquing the nut to 147 Nm (1,500 kgf-cm, 109 ft. lbs.) for 4WD. After adjusting drive pinion preload you must stake the drive pinion nut while reattaching the rear propeller shaft then fill the differential with hypoid gear oil to a torquing value of 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.) using hypoid gear oil API GL-5 with a specified viscosity of SAE 75W-140 (Synthetic) requiring a 3.65 liters (3.86 US qts, 3.21 Imp. qts) volume.

Coat a new oil seal lip with MP grease and use Special Service Tool: 09554-22010 and a hammer to install it, ensuring the oil seal drive in depth is 4.5 ± 0.3 mm (0.177 ± 0.012 inch).
