You must detach the negative battery terminal cable before starting alternator removal. Start with the front wheel of the right side then remove the engine under cover located on the right. Next follow the sequence by unfastening the front fender apron seal from the right side. The next step requires removal of the V-ribbed belt. First disconnect the generator connector before removing the nut to disconnect terminal B wire harness followed by unfastening the bolt and bracket clamp from the harness. The last steps include disassembling the wire harness clamps after removing two bolts that maintain the generator assembly in place.

Starting alternator repair and servicing requires users to disconnect the negative battery terminal cable. Service technicians must remove the front wheel RH together with both engine under cover RH and front fender apron seal RH. To start replace the V-ribbed belt after disconnecting the generator connector then disconnect the wire harness from terminal B by unthreading the nut before removing the bolt for the wire harness clamp bracket followed by clamps unattachment and generator assembly removal through 2 securing bolts. Secure the crankshaft position sensor wire harness at the timing chain cover rib through the bracket before using the 2 bolts to install the generator assembly. Tighten Bolt A to 21 N.m (215 kgf.cm, 16 ft.lbf) while Bolt B needs 52 N.m (530 kgf.cm, 38 ft.lbf) torque. Secure the generator wire to terminal B via the nut while torquing it to 9.8 N.m followed by installation of the clamp bracket using the bolt at 8.4 N.m. Reattach the clamp before connecting the generator connector to the generator and then return the V-ribbed belt and front fender apron seal RH, engine under cover RH and front wheel RH before reattaching the negative battery terminal cable.

The 2AZ-FE charging system generator installation starts with ensuring that the crankshaft position sensor wire harness gets secured to the back of the timing chain cover rib using wire harness clamp bracket. Use 2 bolts for the generator assembly installation where Bolt A reaches 21 Nm (215 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf) torque range and Bolt B reaches 52 Nm (530 kgf-cm, 38 ft-lbf). Fasten the generator wire to terminal B with a 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm) torque nut then install the clamp bracket by tightening its bolt to 8.4 Nm (86 kgf-cm). Place the clamp onto the generator while connecting the generator connector to its terminal. The next step includes the installation of two parts: the fan and generator V belt in addition to the No. 2 engine mounting bracket RH and the No. 2 engine mounting stay RH followed by the engine moving control rod with bracket. Proceed with the installation of the front wheel to the right-hand side then connect the cable to the negative battery terminal before conducting the initialization process.

Place the generator assembly on the clutch pulley and remove the 3 nuts and generator rear end cover. Then, take out the terminal insulator and the generator brush holder by removing the 2 screws.

2.3 N.m (23 kgf.cm, 20 in.lbf).

Take off the V-ribbed belt.

Remove the bolt for the wire harness clamp bracket.

Attach the generator assembly using two bolts, with Bolt A torqued to 21 Nm (215 kgf-cm, 16 ft-lbf) and Bolt B to 52 Nm (530 kgf-cm, 38 ft-lbf).

Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.

Disconnect the generator connector.

Reinstall the front wheel RH, reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal, and perform initialization.
