Begin air injection pump installation by connecting three insulators to the air pump assembly through 3 bolts having a torque of 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf). Proceed by assembling the air pump assembly with bracket through four bolts before tightening them to 16 Nm (163 kgf-cm, 12 ft-lbf). After that connect the pressure sensor connector and air switching valve connector, complete the installation with the No. 2 air hose connection to the air switching valve. The water by-pass pipe sub-assembly should be installed first followed by the intake manifold assembly with proper hose and connector connections from the intake manifold. Start the installation of fuel No. 2 hose then install fuel hose before adding the air cleaner hose assembly and throttle body cover sub-assembly. The procedure ends with engine coolant addition as well as leak checks for both coolant and fuel components.

A proper removal of the Air Injection Pump begins with fuel system pressure discharge and engine coolant drainage. First detach the throttle body cover sub-assembly, then proceed with removing the air cleaner hose assembly. Disconnect the fuel hose and the fuel No. 2 hose followed by disconnecting the intake manifold connectors which will allow the hoses to be easily removed. Next the installer needs to take out the water by-pass pipe sub-assembly and the intake manifold assembly. Users must detach three components from the air pump assembly with bracket: No.2 air hose from the air switching valve and from the air switching valve connector and from the pressure sensor connector for the air injection system before removing all 4 securing bolts. To disassemble the air pump assembly first remove all 3 bolts and then take out the air pump assembly followed by the removal of its 3 insulators.

The process to fix the Air Injection Pump begins with removing all components from the device. Initial steps include unmounting the vacuum hose from both the pressure sensor and air switching valve before unscrewing the 2 bolts which attach the pressure sensor to the air switching valve. You must take away the air switching valve after unbolting the 2 mounting bolts from the air pump bracket and untethering the No. 1 air hose from the valve connections to both the air pump and air switching valve. Attach the No. 1 air hose between the air switching valve and air pump before fastening the air switching valve to the air pump bracket by tightening its 2 bolts to 16 N.m (163 kgf.cm, 12 ft.lbf). The installation ends by attaching the pressure sensor to the air switching valve through 2 bolts which require 5.0 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf) torque and by reattaching the vacuum hose to both devices.

Before removing the Air Injection Pump operating personnel must conduct a fuel system pressure discharge. Start by taking out the front wiper blades and arms from right and left sides then perform the removal of front fender to cowl side seals from both sides. The procedure continues with front wiper motor and link assembly separation followed by removal of the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly. The Air Injection Pump requires removal after taking out both front cowl top outer panel sub-assembly and the No. 1 engine under cover. After coolant drainage the technician should remove throttle body cover sub-assembly, air cleaner hose assembly, vacuum hose assembly, and No. 2 water by-pass pipe. The removal process of the intake manifold starts by disconnecting both the fuel main tube and fuel return tube. The process to remove the water by-pass pipe sub-assembly starts with disconnecting the connector clamp followed by bolt removal and sub-assembly and O-ring extraction. The removal of Bank 1 air pump assembly requires agents to remove the 2 clips from the No. 1 air injection system hose before disconnecting the air pump assembly connector and taking out 2 bolts and 2 nuts that secure the assembly. The removal of the air pump bracket requires users to disassemble its 3 bolts, 3 collars along with 3 insulators. To access the right side front fender liner you must first remove 9 clips before using a clip remover to remove 2 clips attaching the No. 2 air injection system hose. Afterward, fold back the fender apron seal while disconnecting the air pump assembly connector and removing the air injection system hose. The air pump assembly removal for Bank 2 demands the unfastening of its bolt and two nuts. End the air pump inlet procedure by removing two bolts and unclamping the No. 1 air injection system hose before extracting all three air pump insulators and the air pump assembly from the No. 1 air pump bracket.

Begin the 1GR-FE emission control system air injection pump assembly process by placing two pumps and six air pump insulators on the bracket then fasten them using two clamps. Afterward attach the two air injection system hoses. Close the procedure by installing the air pump inlet with two bolts and apply torque at 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf).

Disconnect the 2 connectors and remove the 2 bolts.

Secure it to the air pump bracket with the 2 bolts, ensuring a torque of 16 N.m (163 kgf.cm, 12 ft.lbf).

Remove the front fender to cowl side seals on both sides.

Detach the 2 clamps and remove the 6 air pump insulators along with the 2 pumps from the bracket.

Install the No. 2 air injection system hose, connect the air pump assembly connector, and secure with 2 clamps, then install the fender apron seal with 2 clips.

Remove the No. 1 air injection system hose by detaching the 2 air injection system hoses.

Use a clip remover to detach 2 clips, fold back the fender apron seal, disconnect 2 connectors, remove 2 connector clamps, and detach 2 clamps and 2 bracket clips.

Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and wait at least 90 seconds after turning off the ignition switch.
