Mass Air Flow Sensor

The first step to servicing or repairing a Mass Air Flow Sensor includes disconnecting the cable from the negative battery and waiting for ninety seconds to halt Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. To begin replace the Mass Air Flow Sensor by disconnecting its connector followed by unscrewing the two fastening points. Fasten the Mass Air Flow Sensor by using the 2 screws while caring to check the O-ring is both elastic and installed correctly before attaching the Mass Air Flow Sensor connector. After connecting the cable to the negative battery terminal users must perform initialization because some systems need it after disconnection and reconnection of the cable from the negative terminal.

The Mass Air Flow Sensor service procedure starts with cleaning the air cleaner case once you disconnect its hose and Mass Air Flow Sensor connector while unbolting the 3 supporting hardware. The Mass Air Flow Sensor removal procedure begins with unscrewing its two securing components followed by removing the O-ring from the Mass Air Flow Sensor. Discounting the O-ring put it on the Mass Air Flow Sensor then fasten it by screwing in the 2 mounting screws. The air cleaner case must be installed with its 3 bolts followed by reconnection of the Mass Air Flow Sensor connector and completion with attaching the air cleaner hose.

You should disconnect the Mass Air Flow Sensor through both its connector separation and 2 screw removal. Insert the new Mass Air Flow Sensor by using its 2 screws while making sure the O-ring functions correctly during setup and then restore the Mass Air Flow Sensor connector. Complete the operation by connecting the battery negative terminal and tightening it to 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf). The battery reconnection process should complete before you start the initializations for power windows and sliding roofs.

The service begins by reattaching the air cleaner case through its three bolts while reconnecting the MAF sensor connector before finishing with the air cleaner hose connection.

The service of the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) sensor begins by disconnecting its connector after which you can remove the two screws followed by the Mass Air Flow Sensor and O-ring. A replacement O-ring should be installed during service as the installation procedure starts from the reverse order of disassembly steps.

Remove the 2 screws and the O-ring.

Follow the reverse order of removal.

Place a new gasket on the air cleaner cap and install the MAF meter using the 4 nuts, ensuring a torque of 8.5 Nm (85 kg.cm, 74 in.lb) is applied.

The installation follows the reverse order of removal.

Reinstall the air cleaner case using the 3 bolts, reconnect the MAF meter connector, and finally, reconnect the air cleaner hose.

Secure them with the 2 screws.

Reconnect the MAF meter connector.

First, disconnect the MAF meter connector.

Begin by removing the air cleaner cap with the MAF meter by disconnecting the MAF meter connector and wire clamp, loosening the air cleaner hose clamp, disconnecting the air hose from the air cleaner cap, and loosening the 4 clips to remove the air cleaner cap along with the MAF meter.

Remove the 4 nuts to detach the MAF meter and gasket from the air cleaner cap.

Reinstall the air cleaner case using the 3 bolts, reconnect the MAF meter connector, and finally, reconnect the air cleaner hose.

Place the O-ring onto the MAF meter and secure it with the 2 screws.

Disconnect the MAF meter connector.

Place a new gasket on the air cleaner cap and install the MAF meter using the 4 nuts.
