Service and repair of the Auxiliary Power Outlet starts with removing the shift lever knob sub-assembly for manual transaxle transmission followed by the center instrument cluster finish panel assembly removal. The rear cigarette lighter assembly becomes removable after releasing the 2 fitting claws. The repair process starts with securing the rear cigarette lighter assembly using 2 fitting claws followed by reattaching the center instrument cluster finish panel assembly before installing the shift lever knob sub-assembly for the manual transaxle.

Begin the Cigarette Lighter Assembly replacement procedure by disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable. A torx(R) socket wrench (T30) enables removal of the 4 screws securing the assembly after which workers detach the connector before they remove the clamp and cigarette lighter assembly. Beginning installation requires first connecting the connector to the clamp followed by screw installation using the torx(R) socket wrench (T30) according to a specified order and a torque requirement of 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf). Finish up by attaching the cable to the negative battery terminal while torquing it to 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf).

The first step to remove the cigarette lighter is disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable. Start by taking out the instrument panel under tray which serves the pedal type parking brake system or the instrument panel hole cover for the lever type parking brake system. Begin by removing the console upper rear panel sub-assembly of automatic or manual transmission systems on separate seat types before moving onto the rear console box assembly of separate seats. Both the cup holder tray and front console box must be taken off from instrument panels of cars with automatic or manual transmissions across various seat styles. Next in the procedure you will remove the air conditioning control assembly together with the radio receiver assembly. The technician should start by dissembling the hood lock control lever sub-assembly before taking off the No. 1 lower instrument panel finish panel and the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly with the instrument cluster center finish panel sub-assembly. Continue the procedure by taking out the lower instrument panel LH along with the instrument lower cover sub-assembly. To remove the cigarette lighter cover use your fingers to open the two claws and then detach the cigarette lighter assembly by unscrewing the knob and element assembly followed by counterclockwise socket rotation to free the claw then pushing out the socket toward the room side until it lines up with the cigarette lighter bezel stay notch.

The servicing of a cigarette lighter begins with disassembling the Instrument Cluster Center No. 1 Finish Panel followed by the Instrument Cluster Center No. 2 Finish Panel. After you remove the Shift Lever Knob Sub-Assembly and the Position Indicator Housing Assembly you can detach the Instrument Cluster Center Lower Finish Panel Sub-Assembly. Start by removing the cigarette lighter cover through the release of its two claw fittings and continue with the cigarette lighter assembly removal by first disengaging the smoke knob and then opening the claw fittings. Begin with the Cigarette Lighter Assembly before the knob installation where the 2 claws need to be engaged. Install first the Cigarette Lighter Cover with engagement of the 2 claws followed by reinstallation of the Position Indicator Housing Assembly along with the Shift Lever Knob Sub-Assembly and the Instrument Cluster Center No. 2 Finish Panel and Instrument Cluster Center No. 1 Finish Panel.

The replacement process for the Cigarette Lighter Assy starts with shift lever knob sub-assy removal followed by console upper rear panel sub-assy removal as well as the console box sub-assy rear with console door removal and the console panel sub-assy upper removal. Once you detach the 2 clawed connections the cigarette lighter assembly can be taken out. The installer should push the cigarette socket assy within the cigarette lighter cover with the notch aligned and apply maximum force to ensure proper installation.

Turn the socket in the circumference direction to disengage the claw between the socket and the power outlet socket cover RR, then push the socket out towards the room side.

Remove the rear console box sub-assembly for both manual and automatic transaxle vehicles.

First, remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly (M/T TRANSAXLE).

Push the cigarette lighter assembly in as firmly as possible, and then install the cigarette lighter knob and element assembly.

Align the socket with the notch on the cigarette lighter bezel stay to remove the cigarette lighter assy to the room side.

Reattach the cigarette lighter cover using the two fitting claws.

Install the rear console box assembly.

Next, take out the instrument cluster finish panel assy ctr.

Remove the Instrument Cluster Finish Panel Center No.2.

Begin by removing the SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSY.

Installation should be performed in the reverse order of removal.

Remove the Position Indicator Housing Assembly.

Reinstall the Instrument Cluster Center Lower Finish Panel Sub-Assembly.

Align the socket with the notch on the cigarette lighter bezel stay and push the cigarette lighter assembly firmly into the cover, then install the cigarette lighter knob and element assembly.

Install the instrument cluster center No. 1 finish panel.

Remove the Shift Lever Knob Sub-Assembly and the Position Indicator Housing Assembly.

Use a Torx socket wrench T30 to take out the 4 screws, then disconnect the connector and remove the clamp along with the power outlet socket assembly.

The specified screw installation order should be followed.

Take out the quarter trim panel Assy front LH.
