    Q:
How to remove the parking brake cable assembly on Toyota Solara? Posted by Customer
    A:
The process of removing the parking brake cable begins with taking out the shift lever knob sub-assembly before uninstalling both the console upper rear panel sub-assembly and the console box assembly. The tech procedure requires removing air duct rear No.1 and air duct rear No.2 after the yaw rate sensor assembly (w/ VSC). Start by releasing the parking brake lever then remove the lock nut as well as the parking brake adjusting nut from the parking brake cable assembly No.1. A screwdriver serves to lift the pick on the parking brake lever and free the parking brake cable assembly Number 1 from connecting to the lever. One should start by removing two bolts along with console box mounting bracket No.2 before extracting the two bolts that link parking brake cable No.1 to the equalizer. Separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly LH by removing its two bolts but keep the flexible hose intact to the brake caliper assembly LH. Remove the rear disc and successively remove the parking brake shoe return tension spring and the parking brake shoe strut compression spring followed by the parking brake shoe itself. The three nuts need to be removed to take off the parking brake cable heat insulator. Complete the removal of the No.3 parking brake cable assembly after first detaching its two bolts from the backing plate before taking out two nuts and a bolt to detach it from the body and then disconnect it from the equalizer.
