Toyota Tundra Differential Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the rear differential carrier assembly on Toyota Tundra?
A: Cleaning the contact areas of the rear differential carrier and rear axle housing represents the first step before installing the rear differential carrier assembly for the 1GR-FE and 2UZ-FE. Install the differential carrier by adding a new rear differential carrier gasket while attaching it with 10 washers and 10 nuts which require nut torque at 72 Nm (734 kgf-cm, 53 ft-lbf) but maintaining care of the installation surface. The same installation procedure should be used for the rear Axle Shaft LH and RH. The installation of the propeller shaft for 2WD or 4WD vehicles should be performed according to specifications. Afterward, add differential oil. Put rear wheels into place and tighten aluminum wheels to 131 Nm torque (1336 kgf-cm and 97 ft-lbf) yet steel wheels need 209 Nm torque force (2131 kgf-cm and 154 ft-lbf).
