Toyota Tundra Drive Shaft Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and install the Drive Shaft while ensuring proper adjustments and torque specifications on Toyota Tundra?
A: The procedure for removing the propeller shaft demands mark-making between the Differential and propeller shaft flanges followed by dismantling the 4 bolts with washers and nuts that secure them. To proceed with propeller shaft removal start by disassembling the frame crossmember mounting bolts with the center support bearing and subsequently extracting the transmission yoke from the propeller shaft. The 09325-40010 Special Service Tool needs to be inserted into the transmission to stop oil from leaking. Starting installation requires the removal of Special Service Tool: 09325-40010 from the transmission while inserting the yoke followed by temporary center support bearing installation with 2 mounting bolts into position and ensuring the drain hole faces downward. The installation requires aligning the marked sections on flanges before securing them with corresponding bolts and nuts and washers. Bolt torquing should be at 74 Nm (750 kgf-cm, 54 ft. lbs.). The procedure for adjusting the center support bearing must be performed after unloading the vehicle while maintaining specified intervals then verifying its axial central position before conducting any adjustments. An unladen vehicle requires the center bearing housing center line to match the center bearing center line within 6.0 plus or minus 1.0 mm (0.236 - 0.039 inch). Torque these bolts to 40 Nm (410 kgf-cm, 30 ft. lbs.) under this condition.
