Toyota Prius TPMS Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair a TPMS Sensor on Toyota Prius?
A: A proper service or repair of the Tire Pressure Sensor starts with wheel removal from front and rear positions. The first step to remove the tire pressure warning valve sub-assembly demands you to release air from the tire by removing its valve core and cap. Release the air from the tire sufficient enough to remove the washer and securing nut from the tire pressure warning valve followed by letting the valve sensor fall inside the tire. It is best practice to maintain the removed valve cap together with the core and nut as well as the washer. Use the tire remover shoe to separate the bead but protect the tire pressure warning valve from the tire bead interference. Start by taking out the bead located on the upper wheel section before extracting the valve sensor out from inside the tire and then breaking the bead on the bottom side. Grommet and washer replacement should be done if the grommet shows any cracks. Check for damage on both the grommet and washer before initiation of replacement.
