The Radiator Fan assembly is mounted near the radiator behind the front grille to position the Radiator Fan to force the air over the heat-transfer fins to leave the excess heat outside the coolant and send it directly back to the engine. The assembly can use a mechanically driven hub or an electric motor depending on the application. Both designs utilize a multi-blade impeller in a shroud to direct airflow to enhance efficiency. The mechanical version is engine powered, and the electric version switches on when necessary to provide steady cooling during idle or slow traffic. Then take off the No. 1 radiator hose by first detaching the clamp holding the wire and reservoir hose before using two bolts to remove the reservoir and grommet. You must remove the fan unit that contains the fluid coupling by disconnecting three system components starting with the air conditioner discharge tube clamps and proceeding to radiator bracket bolt withdrawal then hose disconnecting and fan pulley nut loosening followed by belt removal to complete the shroud bracket bolt removal before extracting the fan assembly and its components while preserving the radiator core. During inspection you should check both the fluid coupling assembly for possible damage along with silicon oil leaks and replace if needed. The installation process begins with attaching the fan to the fluid coupling through 4 nuts which need torquing to 8.5 Nm (87 kgf-cm, 75 inch lbs.) before positioning the fan assembly together with fluid coupling, fan pulley, and fan shroud. Next, install the fan pulley mounting nuts temporarily while using 3 bolts to secure the fan shroud at 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.). Secure the Drive Belt while tightening the 4 fan pulley mounting nuts to 29 Nm (296 kgf-cm, 21 ft. lbs.) and fix the 2 wire harness brackets onto the radiator using 2 bolts torqued to 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.) after which you should install the 2 clamps on the A/C discharge tube. The radiator reservoir assembly requires 2 bolts to be tightened to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.) after you attach the grommet and secure the lower side to the fan shroud. The technician will install the No. 1 radiator hose before adding coolant and transmission fluid and reconnecting the negative battery cable and running system initialization tests followed by leak checks using engine coolant and oil before installing the No. 1 engine under cover.
