A necessary prerequisite for Canister Purge Valve maintenance is disconnecting the negative battery cable then waiting a minimum of 90 seconds to stop Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. Start the service by disconnecting both the V-bank cover sub-assembly and the purge VSV from its connector. Once the two hoses are removed along with the bolt the purge VSV can be freed from the
Intake Manifold. The purge VSV installation requires the use of the bolt to secure it followed by hose reconnection and attachment of the purge VSV connector. Reinstall the V-bank cover sub-assembly before connecting the negative battery terminal cable. The final step involves initialization because some systems need an initialization sequence when disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal.
