How to service the Vapor Canister on Toyota Land Cruiser?

A necessary step in servicing the Evaporative Emission Control Canister includes disconnecting the negative battery cable then waiting for at least ninety seconds to avoid triggering Air Bag and seat belt pretensioners. The first service step requires removal of the canister assembly through connector disconnection followed by clamp detachment followed by separation of 2 tubes and hose using a screwdriver without removing the retainer which enables tube and hose and purge line hose disconnection after air inlet line tube removal from the canister filter then disconnecting the vent line tube from the canister (leek detection pump). The canister assembly needs its three securing bolts to be removed. Begin installation by securing the canister through its three bolts with 14.7 N.m (150 kgf.cm, 11 ft.lbf) torque followed by hose and tube attachment where the air inlet line tube connects to the canister (leak detection pump) and the vent line tube reaches the canister filter and the purge line hose should be installed on the canister prior to retainer attachment. After that connect the connector while clamping the wire in place. Some systems need initialization when closing the negative battery terminal during battery service. Therefore you must complete the initialization steps when reconnecting the cable to the terminal.
