Q: How to service the rear Door Jamb Switch for the lower side on Toyota FJ Cruiser?
A: The first task when servicing the lower side rear door courtesy switch involves disconnecting the negative battery cable. Service the rear door courtesy switch for the lower side by removing first the access panel rear Weather Strip and then the lap belt outer anchor cover and finally the rear door inside handle subassembly along with the No. 1 cup holder and rear door trim board subassembly. Start by disconnecting the connector and connector clamp along with the access panel lock control cable from the lower assembly before loosening the three screws with a Torx T30 wrench socket to push the access panel lock upward. Begin the installation process by mounting the access panel lower lock assembly onto the rear door withstarter torque of 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf) then reconnect all wiring components including the connector the connector clamp and access panel lock control cable. Next install the rear door trim surface board assembly as well as the No. 1 cup holder and rear door internal handle assembly followed by lap belt outer fixture sheet then position the access panel rear seal. The negative battery terminal needs cable attachment while using 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf) torque.
