The first step to install the vacuum brake booster starts with partially tightening the
Brake Master Cylinder push rod clevis by attaching the lock nut to the brake booster assembly and clevis before the brake pedal height adjustment and tight full lock nut afterwards. After placing the new brake booster gasket onto the brake booster assembly it should be connected to the body using four nuts tightened to 13 Nm (132 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf). During this process the brake and fuel lines must not be damaged and the clamps should be engaged to secure the
Brake Lines. The installation requires a 10 mm union nut wrench to secure the No. 5 front brake tube where the body grommet must be engaged for a torque of 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf) without the wrench or 14 Nm (143 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf) with the wrench while keeping the torque wrench at 250 mm (9.84 in.) and parallel to the union nut wrench. New check valve grommets must first be installed on the brake booster assembly before the vacuum check valve assembly. First slide the clip after connecting the vacuum hose and then attach the brake master cylinder push rod clevis followed by installing the brake pedal return spring and the front wheel LH with a torque of 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf). After installing the brake master cylinder sub-assembly the technician must connect the clutch tube for manual transaxle and fill the reservoir with brake fluid and perform a bleeding process on the clutch line and brake master cylinder and brake line and brake actuator (w/ VSC). Check for brake fluid leakage before inspecting the fluid reserve and the height of the brake pedal and its free movement and total extension distance. Finally, install the suspension tower damper assembly (w/ Front Strut Bar), outer cowl top panel (for TMC Made and except TMC Made), windshield
Wiper Motor and link assembly, cowl top ventilator louver LH, center No. 1 cowl top ventilator louver, hood to cowl top seal, front wiper arm and blade assembly RH and LH, front wiper arm head cap, air cleaner case (for 2ZR-FE and 2AZ-FE), air cleaner cap sub-assembly (for 2ZR-FE and 2AZ-FE), and No. 2 cylinder head cover (for 2ZR-FE) and No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly (for 2AZ-FE).
