Toyota Corolla A/C Accumulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the A/C Accumulator on Toyota Corolla?
A: The first step for A/C accumulator maintenance involves leading out refrigerant materials from refrigeration systems. You should remove the liquid tube which connects the condenser and A/C accumulator by unthreading separate condenser and A/C accumulator fittings before immediately installing caps to protect the system from liquid or dirt intrusion. Next disconnect the liquid tube between A/C accumulator and cooling unit by taking off the bolt before capping both open fittings. You must remove the A/C accumulator after unscrewing its bolts and removing the A/C accumulator with its holder. Install the A/C accumulator along with its holder by positioning the components and fasten them with the bolt while adding 20 cc (1.7 fl. oz.) of ND-OIL 8 or equivalent compressor oil if you are replacing the A/C accumulator. Install a new O-ring on the A/C accumulator-cooling unit liquid tube with compressor oil until it slides smoothly and tighten it with the bolt to 5.4 Nm (55 kg.cm, 48 in.lb). The installation of the liquid tube between condenser and A/C accumulator requires compressor oil lubricated O-rings which are then installed to tubes before securing them tightly with a bolt torqued to 5.4 Nm (55 kg.cm, 48 in.lb) followed by tightening the nut to 14 Nm (140 kg.cm, 10 ft.lb). Remove air from the refrigeration system before adding refrigerant according to the specified amount of 650 plus or minus 50 g (22.93 plus or minus 1.76 oz.) without detecting any leaks.
