How to Remove and Replace the Rear Center Seat Inner Seat Belt Assembly on Toyota Avalon?

Beginning the removal process requires opposite-terminal battery disconnect. Instal the rear seat inner with center belt assembly LH by placing the bolt arrow forward and tightening to 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf). To complete installation of the rear seat inner with center belt assembly RH check the retractor inclination because proper belt locking depends on it. The package tray trim panel assembly needs to be installed by connecting the connector and engaging claws and clips and securing the rear seat shoulder belt cover. The installation requires torquing the rear seat inner with center belt assembly RH nut and the rear seat belt assembly outer bolt to 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf). This step should avoid any belt overlap with the rear seat adjuster. A quick pull on the belt should activate the locking mechanism of the ELR; a non-functioning ELR requires a belt assembly replacement. Complete both the roof side garnish assembly installation on the left and right side as well as both rear seatbacks before reconnecting the negative battery terminal cable for the initialization process and warning light inspection.

How to Properly Install a Seat Belt Assembly on Toyota Avalon?

Install the rear seat inner with center belt assembly LH by using the bolt at 42 Nm (428 kgf-cm, 31 ft-lbf) torque while ensuring the anchor part of the rear belt does not contact protruding parts of the rear seat adjuster and the arrow points towards the vehicle front. Check retractor inclination after installing it into place by pulling out the belt if the angle is below 15 degrees then checking it locks over 45 degrees. Fasten the rear seat inner with center belt assembly RH through its bolt which requires torque at 42 Nm (428 kgf-cm, 31 ft-lbf). Succeedingly the package tray trim panel assembly's connector should be joined then the 5 claws and 4 clips should be engaged to install the panel before securing the rear seat shoulder belt cover with 4 claws. Follow the same guidance to install the rear seat inner with center belt assembly RH using the nut at 42 Nm and the outer rear seat belt assembly bolt with corresponding torque value while maintaining rear seat adjuster clearance. Follow this test by confirming ELR functionality by fast pulling the belt. The belt assembly needs replacement if the ELR does not lock. Install the inner pieces of the roof side garnish assembly on the LH and RH sides before adding the rear seatback assemblies on both the RH and LH sides. Next remove the rear seat cushion assembly after plugging the cable to the negative battery terminal and perform initialization steps. Complete the vehicle inspection by checking the state of the SRS warning light.
