Indeed, the Scion xB Parking Brake Cable is one of the critical parts that define the efficiency of the Scion xB parking brake system. This cable largely contributes to the fact that the Scion xB must stay securely parked to prevent the car from rolling especially on an inclined plane, this again helps in improving efficiency and safety of the car. Available in a set compatible with several models of the Scion xB, the Parking Brake Cable links the parking brake to the rest of the braking mechanism to ensure the car can be safely parked and does not roll off when parked. The Parking Brake Cable has been established to endure pressure and force due to the past recognition of the Scion xB's solid build. A good Parking Brake Cable is essential because a damaged or rusty cable can result in poor encashment of the parking brake, thus posing some dangers. Signs that relate to a failing Parking Brake Cable include; if one has a hard time engaging the parking brake or if the parking brake light starts glowing at the wrong time indicates that one needs to have his vehicle checked up for the Parking Brake Cable. Scion xB is highly praised for its non-conventional look, small and convenient cubic shape, as well as remarkable characteristics of the engine; moreover, the parking brake cable being functional and safe for this model adds even more to the advantages list. This Scion xB Parking Brake Cable is a durable and functional product that will take the place of a similar item for the Scion xB and guarantee safe and reliable driving performance.

Scion xB Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the parking brake cable on Scion xB?
    A:
The first step for removing the parking brake cable begins with taking off the rear wheel. The procedure begins with removing the upper console panel sub-assembly then the console box carpet followed by the console box assembly. Complete the removal of the console box mounting bracket through the process of removing its five bolts. Disconnect the parking brake lever sub-assembly after all other procedure steps. Similar installation techniques must be used to disconnect both the Number 3 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake equalizer and the Number 2 parking brake cable assembly from the equalizer. The first step involves disengaging the two claws from the parking brake cable so the assembly can be extracted from its position on the end stopper. Then the stopper can be easily detached by disengaging the claws holding it to the parking brake equalizer. The front floor center brace and center Exhaust Pipe assembly should follow the previous components. Proceed with removing the front No. 1 floor heat insulator after disconnecting the 3 nuts before moving on to the front No. 2 floor heat insulator. The next step requires removal of the rear floor side member cover. To remove the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly use pliers and pinch the both ends of its cable clamp followed by flexing the clamp to detach it. Open and dissolve the 5 bolts until the parking brake cable emerges from the surface of the body. To disconnect the cable end from the rear disc brake cylinder operation lever you need to use an offset wrench (14 mm) at the base of the parking brake cable to disengage the clip therefore extracting the parking brake cable from the rear disc brake cylinder. Users should free the 2 claws to pull away the parking brake cable support clamp from the parking brake cable.
  • Q: How to install the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly on Scion xB?
    A:
You must involve the 2 claws to attach a new parking brake cable support clamp onto the parking brake cable before starting installation of the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly. Insert the parking brake cable through the disc brake cylinder before engaging the clip claws of the parking brake cable to the rear disc brake cylinder guide. The rear disc brake cylinder operation lever should receive the cable end before the parking brake cable is installed into the body using bolts torqued to 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf). Engage the cable clamp. It is essential to install the rear floor side member cover before applying 3 nuts with a torque of 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 in-lbf) to the front No. 2 floor heat insulator followed by installation of the front No. 1 floor heat insulator using the same nut application. Secure the installation of the center Exhaust Pipe assembly and the front floor center brace and parking brake cable end stopper by fitting the 2 claws onto the parking brake equalizer. Fasten the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly by having both claws attach it directly to the parking brake cable end stopper. Screw the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly to the parking brake equalizer following the same procedure for the installation of the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly. The parking brake lever sub-assemblies have to be installed after completing the parking brake lever travel adjustment and installing the console box mounting bracket with torques at 27 Nm (275 kgf-cm, 20 ft-lbf) for all 5 bolts. Put the console box assembly together with the console box carpet followed by the installation of upper console panel sub-assembly. The final step includes placing the rear wheel and torquing it to 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf). An exhaust gas leak test should follow.
