2010 Toyota Yaris Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the power Rack And Pinion from the sedan on 2010 Toyota Yaris?
A: A proper start to replacing the power steering rack and pinion in the sedan includes positioning the front wheels straight ahead while disconnecting the negative battery cable. The hood removal requires uninstalling its 4 bolts. The first operation is to remove the front wiper arm head caps then proceed with uninstalling the front wiper arm and blade assemblies from both left and right sides. You must take off the cowl side ventilator sub-assembly from both sides together with the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly and the front wiper motor and link. Proceed to this point by taking out the front air shutter seal followed by the cowl top panel outer. The silencer sheet in the column hole requires the floor carpet removal combined with the extraction of 2 clips. Secure the steering wheel assembly with a seat belt so the spiral cable remains safe and make position marks on both parts of the steering intermediate shaft assembly before unbolting bolt A then removing bolt B to split the steering intermediate assembly. The first steering column hole cover sub-assembly can be removed by unfastening clip A before unhooking clip B from the body structure. Start by removing the front wheel before proceeding to disconnect both left and right front stabilizer link assemblies and then moving on to separate tie rod end sub-assemblies along with front suspension lower arms from both sides. Use an engine sling and chain block to suspend the engine assembly after removing the radio setting condenser bolt alongside the air-fuel ratio sensor wiring bracket bolt. The installation involves the engine hanger (Part No.: 12281-21010) together with bolt (Part No.: 91642-81025) which requires a torque of 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft-lbf). The removal process ends with the disassembly of the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly by disconnecting the engine moving control rod and using a transmission jack for support and the removal of all 6 bolts. The power steering rack and pinion removal requires removing two bolts and two nuts simultaneously without letting the nut's rotational movement occur.
