2010 Toyota Camry Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the No. 2 shift cable grommet retainer on 2010 Toyota Camry?
A: Install the No. 2 shift cable grommet retainer through the engine compartment by passing the transmission control cable assembly from the cabin then apply 2 bolts while torquing them to 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 in-lbf). The floor shift cable should have its uneven top surface oriented upwards during the installation of the transmission control cable assembly while maintaining proper engagement of the claws. The transmission control cable assembly requires connection to No. 2 and No. 3 cable brackets before the installation of a new clip between these brackets and No. 1 bracket. Torque the transmission control cable to 15 Nm (150 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf) as you attach it to the control shaft lever through a nut. Afterward, put in the lock piece when both levers are in the N position. Check for any deformation of the boot after engaging the lock piece. Construct the vehicle by installing the air cleaner case sub-assembly while following with the air cleaner cap sub-assembly after which comes the installation of the air cleaner inlet assembly. The installer first positions the under cover LH followed by the under cover RH before fitting the air conditioning unit depending on whether production occurs at TMC Made or TMMK Made. The final step involves checking the shift lever position and adjusting its operation before connecting the cable to the negative battery terminal while recognizing that some systems need system initialization.
