2010 Scion tC Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install a Power Steering Pump and ensure proper torque specifications on 2010 Scion tC?
A: The vane pump requires 2 temporary bolt installation for mounting and after that, these bolts must be used to fasten the vane pump assembly. Use Special Service Tool: 09249-63010 along with a 14 mm deep socket to tighten bolts to 34 Nm (347 kgf-cm, 25 ft-lbf) while maintaining the torque wrench at a 300 mm (11.81 in.) fulcrum length and having the tool parallel to the wrench. The oil pressure switch requires connection of its connector. Secure the vane pump pressure feed tube to its body via the union bolt while ensuring the stopper touches the body surface and place a new gasket in between. Use a 27 mm wrench to hold the pressure port union before tightening the union bolt to 50 Nm (510 kgf-cm, 37 ft-lbf). Install a bolt that will secure the pressure feed tube to the pump bracket rear while torquing it to 7.8 Nm (80 kgf-cm, 69 in-lbf). Use the clip to join the No. 1 oil reservoir with the pump hose while being cautious about maintaining V belt cleanliness. The fan and generator V belt together with the front fender apron seal RH and the front wheel RH must be installed. A power steering fluid bleeding procedure should be performed while checking for fluid leaks.
