2009 Scion tC Power Steering Pump Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and replace the Power Steering Pump on 2009 Scion tC?
A: You should start by removing both front right wheel as well as draining all power steering fluid before proceeding with the replacement. Start the power steering vane pump replacement by removing the right side front fender apron seal before proceeding to detach the fan and generator V belt. Remove the clip from the No. 1 oil reservoir to pump hose before disconnecting it to prevent fluid spillage on the V belt. The pressure feed tube assembly is disconnected by removing the bolt and detaching the tube from the pump bracket rear before using a 27 mm wrench to maintain pressure port union stability when removing the union bolt with included gasket. Disconnect the connector from the oil pressure switch after which you need to use Special Service Tool: 09249-63010 together with a 14 mm deep socket to loosen the two bolts before removing the vane pump assembly.
