Scion tC Power Steering Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the Power Steering Pump on Scion tC?
A: The first step to remove the power steering vane pump begins by removing the front right wheel followed by draining the power steering fluid. The component requires removal of the front fender apron seal that faces the right side. You need to both remove the fan along with the generator V belt. Remove the clip from the No. 1 oil reservoir to pump hose while keeping the V belt area clean of fluid leakage. Use a 27 mm wrench to hold the pressure port union while removing the union bolt and gasket. You should then disconnect the pressure feed tube assembly by first detaching the tube from the pump bracket rear and secondly by taking out the bolt. To complete the removal disconnect the oil pressure switch connector after using Special Service Tool: 09249-63010 along with a 14 mm deep socket to loosen the two bolts and separate the vane pump assembly.
