2010 Scion tC Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the ABS Control Module on 2010 Scion tC?
A: Installation of the brake actuator assembly begins with attaching it to the bracket through two nuts until reaching a torque setting of 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf). The brake actuator installation requires fitting both the bracket and actuator components together using 2 bolts with a nut where torques reach 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf). Maintaining brake tube and wire harness safety is crucial and following installation sequences for the bolts and nut. Securely mount the brake actuator connector by locking the lever while making the installation. Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 allows technicians to connect six brake tubes to their designated positions on the actuator while using a torque wrench with a 30 cm (11.81 in.) fulcrum length to achieve 14 Nm (145 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf) torque unless using the tool where torque limits are 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf). The right headlight unit and front bumper cover and front fender liners on both sides and hood to front end panel seal must be installed together. After tightening the right front wheel to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf), connect the cable to the negative battery terminal but initialization steps may be needed after cable reconnection. The brake fluid reservoir must be filled followed by purging air from brake master cylinder and brake line and checking brake fluid level then checking for brake fluid leakage. Use Techstream to check the brake actuator before beginning headlights adjustment inspections to conduct necessary headlight alignment tests.
