2010 Scion tC Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install an A/C Condenser on 2010 Scion tC?
A: When installing the cooler condenser assembly begin with putting in the cooler condenser before adding 40 cc (1.4 fl. oz.) of ND-8 or equivalent compressor oil to a new condenser. The installation of the radiator support upper requires five bolts and two nuts to be tightened at 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf). Rephrase the instruction that includes the installation of high pitched horn assembly followed by low pitched horn assembly. Install the hood lock first while using three bolts and then connect the radiator support upper bracket through two bolts maintaining 19 Nm torque (194 kgf-cm and 14 ft-lbf). Before installation of the cooler refrigerant liquid pipe to the condenser use 2 bolts at 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 47 in-lbf) torque with a new O-ring and fitting surface lubricated with ND-OIL 8 or equivalent compressor oil. Use similar installation methods with compressor oil for the No. 1 cooler refrigerant discharge hose by applying new O-rings before attaching through a bolt at 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 47 in-lbf). Follow the hood sub-assembly adjustments by connecting the cable to the negative battery terminal before performing initialization because some systems need cable reconnection initialization. The process ends with filling refrigerant while warming the engine followed by leak inspection through testing.
