2010 Scion tC A/C Compressor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and replace the A/C Compressor on 2010 Scion tC?
A: The first step to replace or remove an HVAC compressor requires that the refrigerant gas is discharged from the refrigeration system. The process starts with disconnecting and waiting at least 90 seconds on the negative battery terminal cable before proceeding. Due to moisture and foreign matter prevention the operator disconnects the No. 1 cooler refrigerant suction hose by unthreading the bolt from the O-ring before sealing each hose opening with vinyl tape. For the No. 1 cooler refrigerant discharge hose function according to the same method by removing the bolt and O-ring while sealing all openings with vinyl tape. First remove the engine under cover from the right-hand side followed by fan and generator V belt removal. To remove the cooler compressor assembly disconnect its connector and remove four bolts which will allow you to extract it.
