2010 Scion tC Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install an A/C Compressor on 2010 Scion tC?
A: The first step to install the cooler compressor assembly involves using four bolts to fasten it together before torquing them to 25 Nm (255 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf) following the exact installation sequence. Next, connect the connector. The No. 1 cooler refrigerant discharge hose requires removal of vinyl tape before you apply compressor oil (ND-OIL 8 or equivalent) to a new O-ring and the fitting surface of the cooler compressor. Then install the O-ring onto the hose to attach it with a bolt torqued to 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf). You should follow the same procedure for the No. 1 cooler refrigerant suction hose by taking off the vinyl tape then applying oil to a new ring before installing it and finalizing the connection with a bolt at equal torque. First install the V-belt under both the generator and the fan while securing the engine under cover right-hand side then link the battery negative cable to its terminal. The system needs initialization procedures that must be executed right after reattaching the negative (-) battery terminal. Proceed by charging the refrigerant followed by engine heatups while checking for refrigerant leakages.
