2009 Toyota Venza Brake Booster Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to install the vacuum brake booster on 2009 Toyota Venza?
A: The vacuum brake booster installation process begins with new check valve grommet installation onto the brake booster assembly and then addition of the brake vacuum check valve assembly. Set the brake push rod length to 155.1 - 156.1 mm (6.11 - 6.15 in.) while fastening the brake master cylinder push rod clevis to the brake booster assembly. The lock nut needs to be tightened to 26 Nm (265 kgf-cm, 19 ft-lbf). Install the brake booster gasket and position the assembly on the body by screwing 4 nuts to 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf). Maintain the brake lines free of damage during this process. The push rod pin requires lithium soap base glycol grease before inserting the brake master cylinder push rod clevis onto the brake pedal sub-assembly and attaching the push rod pin with a new clip. The 1AR-FE engine requires connecting of the No. 1 vacuum hose connector with two nuts torqued to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf) before installing the vacuum hose to the brake booster assembly and securing it with a clip. The vacuum hose installation for the 2GR-FE engine requires attaching it to the brake booster assembly before application of a securing clip. Begin installation of the brake master cylinder sub-assembly while filling the reservoir with brake fluid before bleeding the master cylinder followed by bleeding the brake line. The inspection should begin with detecting brake fluid leaks next checking reservoir fluid level followed by brake pedal inspection and adjustment. Both engine types require installation of the air cleaner case and air cleaner filter element sub-assembly after the security horn assembly. Install the outer cowl top panel as the final step after you place the windshield wiper motor and link assembly together with the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly and the front fender to cowl side seals (both RH and LH) and then add the front wiper arm and blade assemblies (both RH and LH) before ending with the installation of the front wiper arm head cap.
