2009 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and replace the radiator on 2009 Toyota Tundra?
A: A proper replacement of the radiator requires starting by taking off the No. 1 engine under cover. The first step is to drain the engine coolant followed by removal of the V-bank cover. The radiator hose needs detachment from both inlet and outlet positions. The fan shroud removal process includes disconnecting the reservoir hose from the radiator tank upper followed by removing the fan and generator V-belt and four nuts keeping the fluid coupling fan in place before removing the 2 bolts securing the fan shroud. You should carefully loosen and remove the 4 nuts holding the fluid coupling fan before taking out the shroud and coupling fan unit while avoiding any damage to the core area. Proceed to take out the fan pulley which is attached to the water pump. A clip remover allows the removal of six clips to separate the RH radiator side deflector. First disconnect the wire harness clamp from the radiator side deflector LH before you remove its 6 clips with the help of a clip remover tool. Using a screwdriver remove the radiator assembly after uninstalling its 4 bolts and radiator.
