2009 Toyota Sequoia TPMS Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the TPMS Sensor and transmitter on 2009 Toyota Sequoia?
A: The first step for installing the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter is to replace the grommet even when the old one is intact since new tire pressure warning valve and transmitter kits include a grommet. The printer should be installed inside the rim valve installation gap while making sure its surface printing area remains visible. The installer must clean all substances including water and lubricants from the hole of the inner rim and washer because improper installation can result. The tire pressure warning valve and transmitter as well as the inner grommet show no signs of damage and no foreign matter and maintain a normal appearance. Installation of the valve and transmitter in an upside-down position may result in damage or signal failure when the tire speed reaches high values. When installing new tire pressure warning valve and transmitter units keep the ID number as a record then register transmitter IDs to tire pressure warning ECU before performing initialization procedures. Install a new washer along with a nut on the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter from the rim side with final tightenage torque at 4.0 Nm (41 kgf-cm, 35 in-lbf) and further tightening should not occur. The wheel disc must face the mounting machine when installing the lower tire bead with the transmission and main body positioned in marked areas of shading to prevent tire bead contact. Installation lubrication should never be placed on the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter. After install the upper bead check for any contact with the valve or transmitter. First install the valve core then inflate the tire before checking for air leaks with soapy water when adjusting the loose valve nut to its specified torque. Set tire air pressure to the defined value before attaching the cap to the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter. To complete the procedure you must install the front and rear wheels and check the tire while registering the transmitter ID before initializing the system and inspecting the tire pressure warning system.
