2009 Toyota Matrix Front Cross-Member Parts Q&A
Q: How to remove the Front Cross-Member on 2009 Toyota Matrix?
A: Start by orienting the steering wheels directly forward before securing the wheel to proceed with removing the 4WD front suspension member. Start by taking off the column hole cover silencer sheet followed by dividing the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly from the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly. The first step consists of wheel removal before handling the engine under covers from both left and right sides. Both front lower suspension arms should be separated on the left and right sides with the same step-by-step method. Loosen the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly first by disassembling one bolt and two nuts and then insert the transmission jack or equivalent to support it before unboltting the four attachment points. You should remove the two bolts which secure the left-side No. 1 front stabilizer bracket and repeat this procedure on the right side. The front suspension crossmember sub-assembly removal starts by extracting the steering link assembly before unbolted the four crossmember fasteners. After securing the transmission using a transmission jack or equivalent you can unscrew the two bolts along with the front hook assembly. Start by removing the center engine mounting member sub-assembly through bolt extraction of the four bolts. Both front lower suspension arms can then be detached from their positions on their corresponding left and right sides after performing the identical procedure for each.
