2009 Toyota Matrix Brake Master Cylinder Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and replace the brake master cylinder on 2009 Toyota Matrix?
A: One must start the brake master cylinder replacement process by eliminating vacuum from the brake booster. Start by taking off the wiper arm head cap in front position then dismantle both wiper arms and blades from the front of the vehicle. Begin by removing the cowl top hood seal before proceeding to take off ventilator louvers from both the right and left sides of the cowl top. First detach the windshield wiper motor and link assembly while removing the outer cowl top panel by unclasping and bending the right water guard plate then removing its 12 bolts. Your repair process includes the removal of suspension tower damper assembly when the vehicle has the front strut bar installed. The service requires removal of the No. 2 cylinder head cover together with the air cleaner cap sub-assembly with hose and the air cleaner case for the 2ZR-FE engine. You must first remove the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly, the air cleaner cap sub-assembly along with hose, and then the air cleaner case for 2AZ-FE. To remove the clutch tube first drain the brake fluid then use the clip-moving method to complete the disconnection. Users should disconnect the connector followed by clamp disengagement to separate the 4 brake lines using the 10 mm union nut wrench. The removal of the brake system requires two nuts together with the brake master cylinder sub-assembly. When you handle the master cylinder maintain gentle movements which protect against physical damage and position it flat or point it downward before and after installation to stop the piston from detaching. The master cylinder piston requires cleaning using a cloth before applying an even distribution of lithium soap base glycol grease to its circumference. The braking system operation requires removal of the O-ring from the brake master cylinder sub-assembly.
