How to remove the Engine Control Module (ECM) on 2009 Toyota Highlander?

The removal process of the Engine Control Module (ECM) requires first unplug the battery cable from the negative terminal followed by a potential need for system initialization after reconnecting. Start by removing the front door scuff plate on the right-hand side of the vehicle and then proceed to remove the cowl side trim sub-assembly on the right-hand side. Next you should eliminate the No. 2 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly and the lower instrument panel sub-assembly. The procedure for ECM removal begins with disconnecting all 6 ECM connectors then moving to disconnect the tire pressure warning ECU connector before extracting the nut while taking out the tire pressure warning ECU and disconnecting its wire harness clamps. After removing the 2 nuts together with the bolt and ECM with bracket from the vehicle proceed to delete the 4 screws and their accompanying ECM brackets which connect to the ECM.
