2009 Toyota Highlander Coolant Temperature Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to install the Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2009 Toyota Highlander?
A: Installation of the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor begins with laying a new gasket on the sensor before installing it while ensuring a torque setting of 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf). Fitting the engine coolant temperature sensor requires attaching the sensor connector. The installation of the air cleaner case must be followed by installation of the air cleaner cap sub-assembly. Following the vacuum switching valve is the No. 1 valve installation. Place the new gasket on the sensor, install the sensor, apply 20 Nm torque, then connect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector. Next, add engine coolant and examine for any leaks. The installation process should start with the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly following the outer cowl top panel sub-assembly. Install the windshield wiper motor and link followed by the No. 1 engine under cover installation to finish the procedure.
