2009 Toyota Highlander Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch on 2009 Toyota Highlander?
A: The initial step to remove the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch for the 1AR-FE engine control system is to uninstall the windshield wiper motor and link before breaking the ejector tube. The procedure starts with removing the outer cowl top panel sub-assembly followed by the No. 1 engine under cover. First extract the engine coolant and then remove the sub-assembly which consists of the No. 1 engine cover. Continued work requires removing the No. 1 vacuum switching valve followed by the air cleaner cap sub-assembly before pulling the air cleaner case. The process ends when users disconnect the plug connecting the temperature sensor and take out the sensor with its attached gasket.
