2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace a Fuel Level Sensor on 2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser?
A: The procedure to uninstall the fuel level sensor begins with discharging fuel system pressure. Disconnect the cable which runs to the negative battery terminal. This installation requires removal of the front door scuff plate LH together with the rear door scuff plate LH and the rear seat cushion assembly LH. Modified procedure starts with removing the fuel tank to filler pipe hose then removing the fuel tank breather tube sub-assembly followed by taking out the rear floor service hole cover. The next step is to remove the No. 1 fuel tank protector sub-assembly followed by disconnecting the fuel tank main tube before disconnecting the fuel tank return tube and finally the fuel tank vent hose. Following the removal of the fuel tank assembly it is necessary to remove the fuel tank main tube and fuel tank return tube for a second time. The process ends with the fuel suction removal by disconnecting the pump alongside the gauge tube then moving to the fuel level sensor by disconnecting its connector followed by gauge unlocked movement and sliding out.
