2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the fuel injectors on 2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser?
A: The 1GR-FE engine fuel injectors require the fuel system pressure discharge followed by a negative cable battery disconnect to access them. Remove the V-bank cover followed by the air cleaner assembly after draining the engine coolant. Proceed to remove the throttle body bracket by eliminating its 2 bolts prior to extracting the oil baffle plate with its bolt. Reset the surge tank stays No. 1 and No. 2 by removing their installed 2 bolts each. The intake air surge tank requires detachment through water by-pass hoses, fuel vapor feed hose, ventilation hose and throttle body with motor connector and VSV connectors. Remove the intake air surge tank with its gasket by unfastening 4 bolts using a socket hexagon wrench 8 while separately detaching the 2 nuts before separating the three wire harness clamps and hose clamp. The first step disconnecting the sub-assembly of the No. 1 fuel pipe requires removing the No. 2 fuel pipe clamp followed by pinching and removing the tube connector from the delivery pipe while inspecting that no foreign objects damage the fuel tube connector. Follow these steps on the opposite branch of the fuel pipe sub-assembly while working on the No. 2 pipe. The procedure for removing both fuel pipes begins with disconnecting their injector connectors followed by removing six bolts and securing the delivery tubing using caution to protect the injectors from damage. Remove the 6 injectors from the delivery pipe as the last step.
