    A: Start by disconnecting the negative battery cable before ECM extraction for the 2GR-FE engine control system. System initialization could be necessary upon reconnection of the cable. Start by losing both the left-hand and right-hand windshield wiper arm along with blade assembly from the vehicle. Afterwards remove both the windshield wiper motor and link assembly together with the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly. You should remove the cowl top panel outer at this stage. The first step to detach ECM is to remove all 3 nuts while taking care to disjoint the ECM through the body space without harming the wire harness. The 2 ECM connectors need disconnection through elevation of the 2 levers followed by pushing the locks to maintain free from dirt or water and foreign matter entering the connections. After ECM removal proceed to remove the 4 screws with their associated two ECM brackets.
