2009 Toyota 4Runner Power Steering Pump Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and replace the Power Steering Pump on 2009 Toyota 4Runner?
A: Beginner the procedure for replacing a power steering vane pump by draining all power steering fluid. You must start by removing the belt tensioner clockwise to release the vane pump V belt. Then move to remove the air cleaner assembly. The first step involves disconnecting the oil reservoir to pump hose No. 1 by removing its two clips followed by removing the two vacuum hoses and then removing the last clip which disconnects the hose. Then you should divide the pressure feed tube assembly by first unscrewing the union bolt and replacing the gasket to disconnect the pressure feed tube. The removal process ends with the vane pump assembly when all two bolts and nut come out followed by using a "torx" socket (E10) to remove the stud bolt.
