2009 Toyota 4Runner Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How do you install the rear coil spring and connect the associated components on 2009 Toyota 4Runner?
A: To install the rear coil spring start with the rear axle housing and insert the coil spring rear LH into the lower end gap of the spring lower seat. You should install the shock absorber assembly rear LH into position while securely tightening its bolt only for now. Secure the suspension until you achieve full torques at 98 Nm (1,000 kgf-cm, 72 ft-lbf) for the shock absorber assembly rear LH bolt. The installation of the rear brake flexible tube starts by fitting two clips onto its flexible hoses followed by connecting brake tubes to the hose through the use of a union nut wrench until the tubes reach a torque of 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf). The procedure requires adding brake fluid to the reservoir then bleeding the brake line followed by checking reservoir fluid marks and searching for brake fluid leakage. Finally you can install the rear wheel while applying a tightening torque of 112 Nm (1,137 kgf-cm, 83 ft-lbf).
