2009 Scion xD Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the steering angle sensor on 2009 Scion xD?
A: The installation process for the steering angle sensor starts by engaging six claws while inserting the two pins through the holes for catching the spiral cable. You should start with the spiral cable installation and then move to the steering column upper cover before completing with the steering column lower cover. Proceed with installing the steering wheel assembly and then the steering pad following cable adjustment of the spiral cable. The installation requires the front wheels to point directly forward before ending the negative battery terminal connection with the cable and applying a torque at 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf). Check for proper operation of the SRS warning light as the last step. The SRS Air Bag system might experience effects from certain service operations hence the need for appropriate protective actions.
