• Q: How to remove the cylinder head gasket on 2009 Scion xD?

  A: A 2ZR-FE engine requires a drained fuel system pressure as the initial step to extract the cylinder head gasket. Start the cylinder head gasket removal process by taking out the battery along with its tray and front wheels and engine under cover panels from both the left-hand and right-hand sides followed by draining engine coolant and oil. The next step removes sequentially the front wiper arm head cap together with both front wiper arm and blade assemblies, hood to cowl top seal and cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly and finally the outer cowl top panel. The air cleaner assembly combined with bracket and battery carrier need removal along with No. 2 cylinder head cover and fan and generator V belt and No. 2 radiator hose followed by No. 1 radiator hose separation.
