• Q: How to install the intake manifold on 2009 Scion xB?

  A: Install the intake manifold for the 2AZ-FE engine by first attaching the throttle hose and after that install the union to connector tube hose and then tighten the vacuum hose clamp with a bolt set at 8.5 Nm (87 kgf-cm and 75 in-lbf). After installing the No. 2 ventilation hose you should place a new intake manifold gasket and fasten the manifold using 5 bolts and 2 nuts and torque them to 30 Nm (306 kgf-cm, 22 ft-lbf). Secure the union to connector tube hose along with the No. 2 ventilation hose. Position the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly and its accompanying fuel tube sub-assembly by fitting 4 fresh injector vibration insulators onto the cylinder head then installing the No. 1 delivery pipe spacer followed by tightening 2 assembly bolts with 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf) torque setting. In order to complete this installation the team needs to place the fuel tube sub-assembly along with all wire harnesses and finally connect the injector assembly connector to all other connectors including the camshaft oil control valve assembly and heated oxygen sensor connector. The EFI pipe clamp goes on after attaching the fuel tube sub-assembly to its position. Next step is to install the throttle body assembly with the air cleaner cap sub-assembly and its position with the No. 1 air cleaner hose followed by the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly. You should install the outer cowl top panel together with front wiper motor and link along with cowl top ventilator louver LH and RH and hood to cowl top seal and front wiper arm and blade assembly LH and RH followed by windshield wiper arm cover installation. Complete the procedure by adding engine coolant followed by leak inspection of the coolant system.
