2010 Scion xB Intake Manifold Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the intake manifold on 2010 Scion xB?
A: The first step to remove 2AZ-FE intake manifold consists of draining the fuel system pressure. You should begin by taking off the windshield wiper arm cover then proceed to remove the front wiper arm assembly together with both left and right blade assemblies. After that unscrew the hood to cowl top seal and pull away the cowl top ventilator louvers from both sides. The second step is to take out the front wiper motor and link and lastly remove the outer cowl top panel. The installer must start by taking off the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly followed by removing the air cleaner cap sub-assembly with the No. 1 air cleaner hose followed by removing the throttle body assembly. Unplug the fuel tube sub-assembly through the removal of the EFI fuel pipe clamp and detachment of the fuel tube connection. Detach the delivery pipe sub-assembly accompanied by the fuel tube sub-assembly by disconnecting the injector connector and camshaft oil control valve connector as well as air fuel ratio sensor connector. Then pull apart the wire harness and fuel tube sub-assembly before removing the 2 bolts and delivery pipe sub-assembly together with the No. 1 delivery pipe spacer and the 4 insulators from the cylinder head. The intake manifold removal requires workers to disconnect ventilation hose and union to connector tube hose before the removal of 5 bolts and 2 nuts on the intake manifold and after the ventilation hose, vacuum hose clamp bolt, and union to connector tube hose are removed, then the throttle hose can be taken off.
