2008 Toyota Yaris Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the power Rack And Pinion from the sedan on 2008 Toyota Yaris?
A: Begin steering power rack and pinion removal by aligning your front wheels straight ahead and then disconnecting the car battery negative power cable. Take the 4 hood bolts out to access the power Rack And Pinion. Detach the front wiper arm head cap first before removing the left and right front wiper arm assemblies with their blades. You should also remove the cowl side ventilator sub-assembly components at both ends. Following that disconnect the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly and front wiper motor with link. Unfasten both front air shutter and the cowl top panel outer pieces. Unplug the floor carpet and remove the two clips to access the column hole cover silencer sheet. Secure the steering wheel with a seatbelt to preserve the spiral cable before marking both ends of the steering intermediate shaft assembly parts and Rack And Pinion. Begin by loosening bolt A while keeping bolt B intact to separate the assembly. You can remove the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly through B clip separation plus A clip detachment from the body parts. Follow the same process to remove the front wheel and then each tie rod end assembly from both sides of the vehicle. To proceed replace both front stabilizer links and lower arms from both sides while repeating the same steps for each side. Set the engine assembly apart by taking out the radio condenser bolt and the bolt for air-fuel sensor wiring bracket. Put Part No. 12281-21010 in the engine hanger position and bolt it down using part 91642-81025 at 40 Nm torque setting (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft-lbf). Then use the engine sling and chain block to hold up the engine assembly. Support the crossmember with a transmission jack and detach 6 bolts to remove the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly. The process includes taking out the bolt for the engine moving control rod and safe engine assembly suspension. Remove the Rack And Pinion through both bolts and 2 nuts but keep the nut stationary.
