2008 Toyota Yaris Rack And Pinion Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the power Rack And Pinion from the hatchback on 2008 Toyota Yaris?
A: The first step to remove the power rack and pinion from the hatchback starts with setting front wheels directly ahead before disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable. Take out the 4 bolts to achieve hood removal. Begin by taking off the front wiper arm head cap then detach both left and right front wiper arm and blade assemblies one after another. The next step requires removing both the hood to cowl top seal as well as the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly alongside its left louver. The necessary components to remove include the windshield wiper motor and link and the cowl to register duct sub-assembly and the cowl top panel outer. Seventy-five silencer sheet removal from the column hole requires removing floor carpet sections and two clips. Secure the steering wheel assembly with a seat belt to protect the spiral cable and measure the steering intermediate shaft assembly with power rack and pinion sliding yoke before loosening bolt A, eliminating bolt B and disconnecting the steering intermediate shaft assembly. First detach both clip A and B from the body to remove the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly. The procedure for front wheel removal must be performed identically for both sides of the vehicle. With the same process apply the same steps to tie rod ends. Begin by taking off both left and right front stabilizer link assemblies then continue with lowering the front suspension lower arms keeping the same sedimentation protocol for each side. Suspend the engine assembly by taking off the radio setting condenser bolt along with the air-fuel ratio sensor wiring bracket then install the engine hanger (Part No.: 12281-21010) secured by bolt (91642-81025) at 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft-lbf torque. Secure the engine assembly through use of a sling device which connects to a chain block. Start by disassembling the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly through removal of the engine moving control rod bolt followed by transmission jack support of the crossmember and subsequent 6 bolt removal. The power rack and pinion can be removed after two bolt and two nut removal when you secure the nut from rotating during bolt removal.
