2008 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Remove the Parking Assist Distance Sensor on 2008 Toyota Tundra?
A: The first step to disassemble the Parking Assist Distance Sensor includes disconnecting the negative battery cable terminal followed by a 90-second monitoring period that began with switching off the ignition. Begin by taking off the License Plate Light Assembly LH for Resin Type Bumper followed by the LH Assembly for Steel Type Bumper and continue with the License Plate Light Assembly RH for Resin Type Bumper and end with the RH Assembly for Steel Type Bumper. The technician should remove the Rear Bumper Pad Sub-Assembly LH followed by the Rear Bumper Plate LH and the Rear Bumper Plate RH. On the next step remove the Rear Bumper Cover for Resin Type Bumper and the Rear Bumper Bar for Steel Type Bumper. A finger should be used to push down on the lever and release one claw to detach the other claw on the other side of the No. 1 Ultrasonic Sensor. The claws used for installation differ between the top and bottom sections of the sensor. The No. 1 Ultrasonic Sensor Retainer must be unscrewed from the rear bumper after separating the two claws. After the No. 2 Ultrasonic Sensor you will follow the exact removal method applied to the No. 2 Retainer.
