2008 Toyota Solara Clock Spring Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the Clock Spring Assembly / Spiral Cable on 2008 Toyota Solara?
A: The removal process for Clock Spring Assembly / Clock Spring begins by studying the listed precautions. Start the procedure by disconnecting the battery negative terminal and wait for a minimum time of 90 seconds after switching off the ignition. The wheels of the vehicle should be positioned in a straight-ahead direction. Start by taking away the No. 3 lower steering wheel cover that leads to the removal of the No. 2 lower steering wheel cover as well as the steering pad. Subsequently remove the steering wheel assembly as well as the lower steering column cover and steering column cover. The clock spring without VSC can be removed by disconnecting connectors while being gentle with the Air Bag wire harness then using the 3 claws to unfasten it from the cable. The process of removing the clock spring with steering angle sensor (VSC installed) requires careful connection removal from the clock spring sensors followed by disengaging the 3 claws to separate the component. To remove the clock spring with VSC system from the steering angle sensor the user should first disengage the 6 claws and 2 pins.
