2008 Toyota Sienna Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the TPMS Sensor and transmitter on 2008 Toyota Sienna?
A: The installation of tire pressure warning components demands insertion through the valve installation hole from inside the rim where the marker should face outward to check for rim hole debris or damage. High-speed operation of the valve and transmitter may result in both damage and failure to signal transmission when these devices are installed in the wrong orientation. Keep the ID number for new valve and transmitter installations because you need its registration entry to proceed in the ECU later. Follow this step with washer placement from rim side then apply 4.0 Nm (41 kgf-cm, 35 in-lbf) torque to the nut while checking for any foreign matter on washer and nut. New grommet, washer, and nut must be used for valve and transmitter replacements. Verify that no oil liquid or lubricants surround the rim hole area or mounting components to guarantee a proper installation. Set the wheel disc on the mounting machine first then install the lower tire bead while placing the main body of the valve and transmitter within the designated shaded area with no interference possible. During upper bead installation keep the tool away from both the valve and transmitter hardware components. Reinforce the valve nut with the prescribed torque at 4.0 Nm (41 kgf-cm, 35 in-lbf) then test the tire for air leakage by applying soapy water. First torque up the front wheel to 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf) and then perform the same torque on the rear wheel. Registration of the transmitter ID should precede tire inspection along with a check of the tire pressure warning system.
