2008 Toyota RAV4 Vapor Canister Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the Vapor Canister on 2008 Toyota RAV4?
A: The procedure for Evaporative Emission Control Canister removal from the 2AZ-FE engine includes disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable followed by a minimum ninety-second wait period before proceeding to remove the connectors and tubes. The first step involves disconnecting the two tubes and hose and connector through careful retainer prying with a screwdriver while leaving it intact before separating the purge line hose together with the air inlet line tube and vent line tube from the canister and the leak detection pump connector. Before handling the fuel tube connector remove all dirt and foreign particles then protect the fuel pipe O-ring from damage since cutting the connector requires the pipe to remain sealed. All tube disconnections should be performed manually without tool assistance while avoiding bending, twisting, or turning motion of the nylon tube. Protected by a plastic bag the hose should be placed after vent hose removal. You should use push and pull actions to release stuck fuel tube connector and pipe. The end of the process requires removal of the four bolts along with the clip and canister.
