2007 Toyota RAV4 Vapor Canister Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Vapor Canister on 2007 Toyota RAV4?
A: Before servicing or repairing the Evaporative Emission Control Canister, disconnect the negative battery cable terminal to wait at least ninety seconds until all Air Bag components deactivate. First disconnect all 2 tubes together with the hose and connector. Then use a screwdriver to raise the retainer until it is loose enough to disconnect the purge line hose, the air inlet line tube, the vent line tube (leak detection pump), and the connector from the canister (leak detection pump). The work should be completed by hand without using tools because it requires gentle removal of any dirt and foreign objects from the fuel tube connector while also avoiding scratches from foreign objects during disconnection. Cover the cut fuel tank vent hose with plastic when disconnecting it while trying to separate glued fuel tube connector and pipe by gently pushing and pulling mechanisms. You must tighten the new canister through the 4 bolts and clip to 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf). Prepare the air inlet line tube before connecting it to the canister (leak detection pump) while performing the installation step of the vent line tube through its connection to the fuel tube connector followed by pressing the retainer to lock the claws while maintaining a remote area from scratches or foreign elements. Verify the fuel tank vent tube connection security by pulling the tube connector followed by attaching the retainer to the purge line hose and linking it to the canister (leak detection pump). The negative battery terminal cable gets its connection back in place as the last step.
