How to remove the thermostat on 2008 Toyota Highlander?

A proper 2GR-FE engine thermostat removal process begins by disassembling the V-bank cover sub-assembly, then proceeding with engine under cover assembly and No. 1 engine under cover. You need to remove both the front right-hand wheel along with the right-side front fender moulding sub-assembly through identical step-by-step processes. After taking out the front fender liner from the right-hand side you must extract the front fender apron seal positioned on the right-hand side. Take out the engine coolant before removing the V-ribbed belt. The engine repair process starts with disconnecting the No. 2 radiator hose from the engine before proceeding to remove the No. 2 idler pulley sub-assembly consisting of bolt and idler pulley cover plate and idler pulley sub-assembly. Slipping the 2 nuts from the water inlet permits thermostat removal from the water inlet housing while removing the gasket from the thermostat along the way.
