How to replace the thermostat on Toyota Highlander?

In order to replace the thermostat, empty coolant draining, take off generator assembly and water inlet using two nuts and then take off the thermostat. Fit a new one with a gasket, with the jiggle valve in 10 degrees of the vertical. Install water inlet back, add coolant and check engine coolant leak.

How to service and repair the thermostat on Toyota Highlander?

To service the thermostat, drain the coolant, break off the fan and generator V belt and disconnection of the radiator hose. Take out water inlet and thermostat. Install new gasket with jiggle valve in the up position, reconnect water inlet, reconnect components. Lastly, add coolant and check leakages.
